Zhigang Liu, Ph.D., Professor and Doctoral Supervisory, was born in November, 1975. He received Bachelor Degree of Railway Electrification and minored in Computer Application of Southwest Jiaotong University in 1997, and received Master Degree and Doctor Degree of Electrical Engineering in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He became an associate professor in 2003 and a professor in 2006, and was a visiting scholar of University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009-2010.

Research Grant and Funding: National Natural Science High-speed Railway Joint Foundation Key Project of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Sub-project of National 863 Program of China, Sub-project of National Science and Technology Support Program of China, Sichuan Province Youth Science and Technology Innovation Research Team; Fok Ying-Tong Education Funding of Education Ministry, Sichuan Province Youth Science and Technology Innovation Research Team, Railway Ministry Science and Technology Research and Development Program, Youth Science and Technology Funding of Sichuan Province, etc. He has published more than 170 SCI and EI papers, and has 17 authorization invention patents and 3 software copyright. He published an academic book in Chinese and two academic books in English.

Research Area: Pantograph-Catenary system’s dynamic properties, fault detection, status assessment and active control in high-speed railway; Electrical relationship between Electric Multiple Units and Traction Supply Network in high-speed railway; Power quality of power system considering grid-connect of new energies, etc.
