Brief Biography

Lei Ma received his MSc degree from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, in 1996, and the Dorktor Ingenieur degree from Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, in 2006, both in Electrical Engineering. From 2000 to 2006, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Computer Control and Automation, Ruhr-University, Bochum and the Department of Robotics and Telematics, University of Wuerzburg, Germany. He worked as an assistant professor (Akademischer Rat) at the Department of Robotics and Telematics, University of Wuerzburg, Germany (2006-2009). He also served as Deputy Director and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Zentrum fuer Telematik e.V., Wuerzburg (2007-2009), and deputy associate professor for Space System Design and Control as well as Telematics at the University of Wuerzburg (2007-2009). He is currently a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. He is a Vice Dean of the school for Graduate Education, Laboratory and Internationalization, and also a Programme Director at the SWJTU-LEEDS Joint School.

 

He is a member of Technical Committee of Control Theory, Technical Committee of Cognitive Computing and Systems of China Association of Automation, a member of IEEE and a Deputy Secretary General of the Sichuan Provincial Association of Instrumentation and Automation. He served as the Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee of IEEE MAPE 2013, the General Secretary of the 25th Chinese Control Conference, and a memeber of Programm Committee or session chair/co-chair of numerous international conferences.  

Research Interests

Robot control and multi-robot systems; Control of electro-machenical systems and new energy systems;Control and safety of high-speed trains; Medical robotics.
