Research Interests

I have been involved in the development and application of mathematical and mechanical methods for studying slope stability and bearing capacity of the foundation. I presented analytical formulae on factor of safety of slope stability, internal forces of retaining structures, as well as bearing capacity of rigid strip footing near soil slopes. My current interests are

(1) Static and dynamic stability analysis methods of rock or soil mass in cut slope, landslide control, and tunneling projects

(2) Calculation theory and design method of retaining structures including various types of stabilizing piles, anchorage structures, group of combined micropiles, and geosynthetic-reinforced soil retaining walls in geotechnical engineering

(3) Applicable prevention technology of geo-hazards including landslide, debris flow, and rock collapse

(4) Shallow and deep foundation engineering involved in bearing capacity on or near slopes, composite foundation in soft soil, mechanical behaviors of deep pile foundation, and ultimate bearing capacity of rock-socketed piles as well as pipeline engineering

(5) New types of high subgrade construction in the area of problematic soils such as soft clay and expansive clay and in the dangerous mountainous area with steep terrain
