Brief Biography

Gexiang Zhang: PhD,Professor,PhD supervisor, the founder of Nature-Inspired Computation and Smart Grid Lab (NICSG,www.nicsg.net) and the founding President of International Membrane Computing Society (IMCS). He received Ph.D. degree in Signal and Information Processing from Southwest Jiaotong University, PRC, in 2005. From the year of 2005, he is a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, PRC. From 2007 to 2008, he worked for The University of Sheffield (UK) as a visitng professor.

Research Interests

Prof. Zhang's research interests include:

(1) Natural computing and unconventional computing: membrane computing, evolutionary computation, DNA computing, quantum computing, etc.

(2) Smart grid: power system state estimation including renewable energies, optimization in power systems, power quality power systems.

(3) Signal and image processing: digital signal processing (singal detection and recognition, time-frequency analysis), digital image processing (image decomposition and reconstruction, recognition)

(4) Pattern recognition: feature analysis and selection of radar signals, power signals and traffic images, classifier design

(5) Software testing and verification
